The premise
A document may be informative without resolving a device-level question. We make the reasoning visible. A considered editorial note should show how a source leads to a limited conclusion, including the alternative explanation that has not been ruled out.
Test the inference
Readers can turn the absence of a detail into an assumed positive or negative finding. Write out the supported premise and the conclusion separately. Ask whether another explanation is still possible and whether the wording goes beyond the source. The resulting note may be narrower than the original headline, which is a useful editorial result rather than a failure.
Frame a limited conclusion
State what is established and stop before the unsupported inference. Keep the question, the source reference and the remaining limitation together so that a later reader can reconstruct the reasoning.
